The collapse force and fracture tension for shale–sandstone were computed across different elastic modulus and Poisson’s ratios to find out the Risk-free density window. The Patchy Aircraft of Weakness criterion extends Jaeger’s solitary weak plane model by similarly dividing the failure of laminated shale into two distinctive, discontinuous components.
